I have always loved the song “Give Me Jesus”. But this year it has taken on a new meaning for me. I have been convicted in the past few months of my idolatry – it seems I was putting everything else (social media, work, even food) above Jesus. He was gracious enough to point this out to me and enable me to listen, and then when I listened and made some real, practical changes to cut out my idols, He began to show me that nothing is better than He is! Not the things I want more of (like food or scrolling) and not the things that pose as good gods, because they weren’t made to be our gods. Now, the more time I spend with Him, the more He teaches me, and the more I want Him! It’s a beautiful circle! (Not without its struggles and sins on my part, but He makes it beautiful anyway!) What a gift to say and sing together, “Give me Jesus”!
